TUESDAY TRAILS AT NEEDWOOD

Hey Trailies!

Looks like my outreach to Mother Nature is starting to pay off. She’s giving us great running weather today. Dry, nice temps (upper 70’s!) and manageable humidity. Anytime we get this in August around here ya gotta take it! C U there!

OK, first, announcements:

The Groovin’ Woodstock Trail 7k XC race this past Sunday was a huge success. Most runners ever! Thanks to all volunteers and participants! We’ll do it again next year!

Also, looking down the road, for folks doing Stone Mill this year we have the famous Muddy Shoes SM50 Course Preview Runs coming up on each weekend in October as well as the Phantastic Phall Phat Ass Haph Marathon and 10k the weekend before Stone Mill (great taper run!). Come out and get a preview of a different section of the actual course each Saturday in October. Come join us even if you aren’t doing Stone Mill. Lots of good trail fun.

Location: Lake Needwood

Time: Warm up at 6 p.m. Run starts at 6:15

Course: Counter-Clockwise up Needwood Trail and over to Blue Jay Loop. Back past Archery range onto Needwood Trail then a quick right onto Mudcat Trail and out to Park entrance. Cross Needwood Road and go out-n-back on Beaver Tale (aka Upper Rock Creek). Cross back over Needwood Road and go right on sidewalk across lake. At far end go left on Westside Trail (hill repeats on Adie’s hill optional) and take it to dam. Cross dam and head back to parking lot. Easy-Peezy!

Distance: 5.5-ish miles with warm-up (feel free to do shorter or longer)

Pace: Fast, slow and in-between

Vibe: Chill…very chill but getting warmer!
