TUESDAY TRAILS AT NEEDWOOD AND OUTTA THE WAY CAFÉ

Hey Trail Slugs,

Looks like the Muddy Shoes Cool Weather subscription with Mother Nature has lapsed. So sorry. Humidity and warmer temps (compared to last week) are back. So be it! It’s August! Not anticipating any precip however. So that’s good. And checking the calendar, it’s the 2nd Tuesday of the month which means its Outta the Way Cafe night!!! Woot! Woot! Looking forward to some post-run mingling over burgers and brewskis (or whatever the heck ya’ll eat and drink!).

Days are getting shorter, but the trails are the same length! C’mon out! Tap your toes on some sweet single-track with us!

Looking down the road, for folks doing Stone Mill this year we have the famous Muddy Shoes SM50 Course Preview Runs coming up on each weekend in October as well as the Phantastic Phall Phat Ass Haph Marathon and 10k the weekend before Stone Mill (great taper run!). Come out and get a preview of a different section of the actual course each Saturday in October. Come join us even if you aren’t doing Stone Mill. Lots of good trail fun.

Location: Lake Needwood

Address: 15679 Needwood Lake Cir, Derwood, MD 20855

Time: Warm up at 6 p.m. Run starts at 6:15

Course: Clockwise across dam and onto Parilla Path. Continue up Westside Trail to Needwood Road. Run along Needwood Road across lake and then go left crossing Needwood Road and do the out-and-back on the Beaver Tale Trail (aka Upper Rock Creek Trail). Head back into park and up the road to a right turn onto Mudcat Trail. Take this to intersection with Needwood Trail. Go right and down East side of lake and head back to parking lot. Easy-Peezy!
