Hey Trail Doggies,
Time for another weekend of Muddy Shoes trail bliss. We got two things going on this weekend.
First, on Saturday, we’ll venture out and hit the trails of Patuxent River State Park. This venue offers tons of parking, shade and awesome single track. As an added plus, it’s down the road a hop from Sunshine General Store where they make one of the best cheeseburgers in the whole DMV! https://www.washingtonpost.com/food/2023/08/07/best-burgers-readers/
But I digress! I put a request in to Mother Nature to throw us some splendid weather. Hope she obliges cuz she was feelin’ Wizard-of-O-nasty a coupla days ago. Right?! Right now, it’s forecast to be 60 and sunny at run time with the humidity dropping drastically while we run. Details below.
The 2nd thing going on is on Sunday there will be a memorial run for a dear friend and stalwart of our local running community Kevin Ruppel who passed away this past Winter from ALS. It will be a choice of runs – one on pavement, one on trail, followed by a celebration of Kevin’s life. - 2024 marks the 10-year anniversary of Muddy Shoes? Yup, ten years ago we had our first run. To mark the occasion, we will be getting commemorative swag to celebrate. Stay tuned. Save your money! T-shirts are coming?!
- Save the Date! July 27th! The Annual Muddy Shoes Summer Phat Ass on the trails of Seneca Lake! Great run followed by an awesome potluck post-run mingle. Muddy Shoes provides burgers, dogs and tater tots. Currently in discussion with a local MoCo brewery to supply some liquid refreshment to each thirsty participant! More details to come! Stay tuned!
