Hey Trail Dogs, Root Kickers, Tree Slappers and Recovering Mountain Bikers,
Time to head out into the woods of MoCo for a little Saturday trail time and Forest Therapy! And, guess what!? We might see something we haven’t seen in a very, very long time – MUD! Probably not too much but the potential is there because we are having a somewhat moist week. Wouldn’t THAT be a treat? But, as we all know, the weather around these parts can go either way. This far out – I’m writing this Thursday morning – it calls for a chance of hit or miss showers on Saturday. Maybe it will be wet, maybe dry. We’ll see. But I gotta tell ya, while the temps will be favorable it will be more humid. That will just make those ice-cold mini-Cokes be all-the-more succulent and refreshing! However, hydrating will be key to a good run.
So, the plan for ya’ll this week has us revisiting an awesome run we did last year for the first time. We are heading back to Patuxent River State Park https://dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/Pages/central/patuxentriver.aspx . It’s a 3.75 loop that we can do three times (less or more if you want). There is ample parking, a brick-and-mortar latrine, a nice nature center and it is right down the road from the Sunshine General Store, home of the world-famous Sunshine Cheeseburgers (mmmm, sooooooo good!). It’s hard to find a reason not to join us on Saturday!

– Get Ready! The 6th Annual Muddy Shoes Summer Fatass is coming up on Saturday July 15th. This is an awesome low-key trail event located in Seneca Creek State Park followed by a fun post-run potluck feast and mingle (Muddy Shoes supplies meat and plant proteins and some other stuff). And, yes, we’ll have an alcohol permit so there will be adult beverages to enjoy in moderation. Not sure if the permit will cover weed since it will be legal.
