SATURDAY TRAIL RUN with MUDDY SHOES
Happy Friday, Forest Joggers!
Are you ready for a smoke-free Saturday trail run? I sure am! So far Saturday’s forecast is hopefully going to have better air quality than today. No guarantees. I will monitor the situation. If it is a Code Red air day, then we will cancel. Granted, as trail runners we are a bit nuts, but we sure ain’t stupid! If it is Orange or better, we will run. Right now, from WTOP “Air quality is expected to continue to improve to a Code Yellow on Saturday before a potential Code Green arrives on Sunday.” We should be AOK.
If we do run, we’ll meet at Violette’s Lock along the C&O Canal and do the Blockhouse Point/Pennyfield loop. If I remember correctly (big ‘If’) that was roughly a 7 mile loop, give or take which way you traverse through the Blockhouse trails. Come out and enjoy these beautiful trails. And of course, there’s the world famous Mini-Coke and pickle chip inspired post-run mingle! What’s not to like?

– Get Ready! The 6th Annual Muddy Shoes Summer Fatass is coming up on Saturday July 15th. This is an awesome low-key trail event located in Seneca Creek State Park followed by a fun post-run potluck feast and mingle (Muddy Shoes supplies meat and plant proteins and some other stuff). And, yes, we’ll have an alcohol permit so there will be adult beverages to enjoy in moderation. Not sure if the permit will cover weed since it will be legal.
